GeeWhizzzz.... we can do this ?

Effective from RideAlong2 onward, all download link's url whill be shorten with BookMax. This would help more or less not to allow spiders to crawl to this blogspot to detect where are our donwload links are located which could result in them being deleted on instruction by the owner to the server. Or even this blogspot being ordered to close down. :(

Furthermore, it helps the post to look more neater. On the management side, it helps us to determine the number of downloads each link had and when the last download were.

A bit on how the shortening is done.
Take Ridealong2 for example. Its actual download link is openload co with url https://openload.co/f/P-8HBnDX_Cg/www.filmikz.ch-HC.WEBRip.x264-STUTTERSHIT.mp4  ... quite a mouthful.

We would shorten the link to be only  http://bm.cx/MKGu  which is shorter and also practical to remember if you put just a little effort. Here's how - the main url will always be http://bm.cx/  the unique link will depend on the 4 alphabets after that which could be in any combination either capital or small letters which is imperative for the links to work. In this case MKGu. If you can remember the main url and just associate the 4 alphabet then your download link is in your head. Not that this is necessary, but it can come in handy if it need too.

How different has the Jarhead franchise become. This is its 3rd outing. Can't remember if I've seen the 2nd one but I remember the 1st one with Jake Galleyhall. Well it was a classic war sort of movies. Cant remember much as it was quite sometime ago. But it was about this marine that was posted to safeguard Kuwait oil fields after Iraq pulled off. Not much fighting, just surveillance kind of movie.

But this one is something like "Black Hawk Down", a lower ranking achievement of a movie of course, about a rescue mission and with shots fired all over the places non stop after 1/4 of movie had passed. Familiar faces was Scott Adkins who did show his martial arts stuffs and Dennis Hysbert who came in too late to join the action.

This movie has got nothing to shout about. On the education side of it, you may know one or two things on what a US embassy would do whenever something like this happen. This one showed that they must safeguard or destroy the IT material before it fell in the wrong hands. But I wonder why there are so much of it contained in servers and in hard disk drives. In this day and age, dont they use Clouds ?{"What cloud?" Rocky in Creed whilst looking up at the sky!)

Now one very glaring flaw I see was the Helo that came for the rescue with Hysbart in it. I am pretty sure that was a toy or perhaps a drone of some kind. Could be because of budget issue maybe. The other thing is why will it take 1 hour for a safe rescue to come and with only 1 Helo ? That to me is bad protocol.

The shots fired are much too much. And the flow of ISIS guys are non stop which is a wonder where they came from in the first place. The ratio of ISIS got killed compared to the US personnel and marine is something like 1:20 ? Which is very high indeed. One good message being delivered was right before Security guard Mohammad being shot. What he said that Khalid (?) cause is wrong in the eyes of God.

Like my comment on the recent war movie "Hyena Road" which is about Canadian soldiers, this one has all the over the top action and USA is great and invincible stuff they are the hero and the foes are the villains.

Perhaps if the director have put some slow mo and freeze action once in a while in this movie, it would have been better. Also let the music be current and not orchestra performed and also not all the time. Just to keep the pacing slow or freeze for a while. But if one is looking for some mindless shooting and each blood spurt excites, this is one for you. It will not fail to excite.

Be sure to watch the closing credits. It shows what happened to a few of those involved in the seige.

This is a moving powerful acting and serious subject movie. Its a true story happening in 2002 about gay equality of two lesbians, Laurel and Stacie. Their fights change history for the county and eventually the whole of USA.

However this review is based on what we see in the film not based on what we saw as montage at the end of the film where the real Laurel and Stacie are not that fragile or having noticeable age difference as they were in the movie. No matter what, as a true story, what transpired should be appreciated and deserving as it should be.

All 4 main characters gave an impressive performances. Why not, as 1 of them (Juliane) is an oscar winner whilst the other 3 (Ellen, Shannon and Carrel) are oscar nominees.

Its hard to imagine how loving they were even if they are of the same gender. They could had make the process of having Laurel's pension to Stacie easy but in an unconventional way as suggested by Dane (MS) when he spoke in front of the FreeHolders, but did not as Laurel's had principle. Nor Stacie bother that much on getting the pension as if she was alone she would be OK when life was without Laurel. Its the love of these 2 that showed that were commendable even many straight husband and wives do not have. How young was Stacie and having to cope up with a loss of a love one whom was not based on any bond or matrimony just the feeling of being together.

Very commendable was Dane as Laurel's working partner. How he stood by her and find ways and means to help her cause in any which way he could. 

Not forgetting how a tragedy of terminal illness (not only cancer) effect loved ones and those we know around us. 

A good moral film for us to ponder. Glad to have seen it and what it shown especially on Lesbian's love for one another which can be very intense. BTW, Ellen Page herself is gay in real life.

This film is directed and co wrote by Mr Guillermo Del Toro (any relation to Benfico?) who also had directed Pacific Rim and Hell Boys movies.The film was reviewed by my favorite Youtube movie reviewers Jahn and Stuckman. There is something I have to differ from them which will be explained below.

The film has very nice sets and costume of the 1800's era both in US and England. Looks authentic and from a well budgeted movie. The house in England where most of the action took place was simply a classic and eerie too. As the director had directed high special effects budgeted movie before this, you wonder what is real what are cgis.

No complain on the acting particularly from J Chaistain (The Martian) and T Hiddleston (Loki of Thor). As this movie rely much on the acting and sets but less on special effects to make it stand out.

As expected you see two familiar faces from Pacific Rim here. And a switch of American playing British and British playing American.

All right here's my take of the movie.

It is not a horror or ghost movie as wrongly spelt out by the reviewers. Even Stuckman main complaint (or was it Jahn) was why didnt the ghost showed up ? My opinion that it is not that kind of movie rather than its a supernatural one something like Sixth Sense. The ghosts or spirits to be exact are not real as it is the imagination or rather intuition of Edith as she can see Ghosts (emmm.. this is familiar tagline) right from when her mother died when she was 12 (?)). The Ghosts came to her to help, like her mother warnings, or asked her help to reveal the truth on what happened to them. Because if you are expecting a horror movie that will shit your pants, this aint one of em.

The film is good if you are prepared to see it not as a horror film. If not you will be utterly disappointed. Read one review in imdb saying that this is the most directionless ghost movie ever. Hmmm how wrong can that be.

HARBINGER DOWN

Some movies do not make it to the cinema and without want to waste the money spent, they released it on BlueRay like this one. Clubs or small digital cinemas are fine to broadcast these at their venues as they know that no big film companies will be banging at their door for showing illegal movies.

One would be tempted to watch this because of what written on the cover "Alien vs predator" and " "stormtroopers" . But why in German (?) Perhaps it was released in German ? Ok many questions but let just leave it that way and go straight to the movie.

The other crowd puller is Lance Heriksen. The android (he was younger then) who got ripped off in Aliens. And he had acted in one of the AvV series before. So this cant be that bad.

In terms of suspense its not that bad also. Only that when the alien appeared  you could be exclaiming WTF or OMG ! The concept of the alien is great thou - that it fell to earth in the early 80's in a Soviet capsule and had been freezing in the Behring Sea all this while untile a crab fishing vessel by the name of Harbinger (so thats the title) happened to got it on board and things (as expected) got squassy. But theres a sub plot to this thou I wont spoil the "fun" of watching this. Back to the concept - so this alien has been absorbing all the DNA it was in contact with when it was in the water. As you know fishes, crabs, plankton, whales, bacteria etc etc. And of course human DNA too. It can change form from liquid to solid and vice versa. So its very mobile.  

My problem is that the Alien become undefined. What the F** is it ? To me its more like a creepy plant thing rather than animals. So when you have an alien who could be anything anywhere and everywhere in the movie, that scary part fails. I wish it was like Alien or any other even cheap skate monster movie where you know how it looked like and you are entertain through out the movie being frightened by the sight of it. 

The other thing that bugs me was why the Russian wants just to test how bad the Alien is even deciding to destroy if its that bad. And why the crew of Harbinger have no thought to do mankind a favour - destroy the alien for god sake before it spread to the main land. And the final treatment with the Harbinger at the end is also in doubt. Can it eliminate the thing (a better word) ?? Maybe a sequel for the next one ? Hope not.

So thats my thoughts. Expect the expected.

There are so many stars in this family comedy happy christmas movie. Even Falcon Mackie is in this one too. But I think the one given the best performance was Olivia Wilde. She is so natural in the role she is playing. When she played a mother she was really like one. As a kick ass robot (in Tron legacy) she could do that too. Watching her one may forget that she is actually British.

The pacing of the movie is good. Flashbacks off and on and some fancy film works too. Like another movie also with an element of Christmas and the story of many people, that I saw and love was "Love Actually". But this is about the story of a family of 4 generations from the grandchildren to the grandfather and grandauntie. Alan Arkin for the grandfather is a good cast but Diane Keaton for her daughter maybe a bit too old. How come Merisa Tomei is her sister ? John Goodman looks old and I think maybe they need him to look old for miscast Keaton ? Syfried feels out of place like she dont belong in this story.

Movie with narration can help you to understand the story better and make the pacing fast. This one has a narrator and if you sit to the end of the film you'll be surprise who narrated the story. Surprise for its real life narrator and the acting one.

The story is about problems with every members of the family. But if there is no problem then there will be no story. How they tried to find solutions to these problems.

Good family movie to watch over popcorn but better still if christmas just round the corner.

Grandma is not a comedy just because Lily Tomlin is in the lead. Its a family story comprising of people who tend or trying to be funny. It has side stars appearing very briefly like John Choo and that guy from paper towns.

Its about the mission of getting her granddaughter for an abortion. It all happened in one day. The plot "thickens" as Grandma dont have enough money and she does not communicate with Sage(Gran daughter) mother. In this "journey" a few things happened along the way. The film is short at 1hr 18m. If it had been longer it would feel more draggy than it is.

Grandma's life is really complicated. First shes a lesbian who's partner passed away. But before that she was married but had an abortion. Her daughter is adopted. And the daughter went to the sperm bank and gave birth to her "granddaughter". So biologically, the granddaughter is not related to her.

This film strive on good acting LT got herself nominated recent awards. But I was impressed with Sam Elliot who eventhough appeared briefly gave a superb performance as the man who had married 4 times but can never get over that he married a lesbian for his 1st marriage.

The plot is not heavy and you'll get by it and perhaps understand that no matter what gender its all about Love.

HYENA ROAD

This film is a Canadian film about Canadian soldiers fighting in Afghanistan. Hyena Road is a road the Canadian are trying to complete leading to the inner part of the country. In so doing, they face many challenges.

Non of the actors are known to me but they give quite a convincing acting. Canadian uniforms are similiar to US Marines. And if you just glance at them you think they are the other. But their firepower, from the movie, is not bad at all. One way to reaffirm that the war does not belong to the Yankees alone.

The film is good for a war movie. No doubt about it. The actions looks real and not over the top stuff types. The Afghans are not all branded as bad. They too are the victims of the Mujahidin. During the film, in the narration was about Alexander the Great and how he himself had enormous issues with Afghanistan. So did the Russian. That shows how difficult is Afghanistan.

This film has the suspense and the story line. You dont mind that you dont see familiar Hollywood faces in this one. My small complain is too much technical terms when they were communicating on the intercom. Techie like coordinates need not be spelt out. Of course that is critical for the people involved but for the audience, who give a damn. One aspect of the film you should respect is that when you dont know English you dont know the languange. Fullstop. No surprise of suddenly a talking Afghan talking English. Not even subtitles here. Dont worry you understand what they are saying as you have an abled translator at hand.

Like mentioned above. Its a good movie with natural action and "feel" of war. Watching this, unlike any Hollywood take of war movies, you dont feel that the Canadians are the heroes or nobody can beat the shit out of 'em stuff. Its a war where everybody loose.

The title of the film is a term in Psychology. Knowing it will spoil you as you can pretty guess how the film going to end. This film is based on actual events. So what happened in the film could had happened.

Ethan Hawke being a policeman gave a good performance as the confused cop. Emma Watson actually played somebody younger than her age and was convincing as a out of town gal. I wish her screen time could be longer so that her character can be revealed more. Which can be more interesting. Instead it concentrated more on Bruce (EH's) more.

Cant figure out what the film going to be - a police or a horror movie ? In the end I was not satisfied of getting both. The film is not that bad but I hope it could have been better. Like some movies by the time the movie ends, I learned one or two things about Psychology. Bravo ! To me, the film did not have a proper closure just leaving us to end it ourselves.

About the set, the film supposed to happen in 1990. But why are the cars seen looks like the 70's ? Then dont tell me in the 90's nobody is using hand phones yet ?

        Cant believe that I finally finished this movie. Tried it earlier with a WEBRip copy. Got lost as the accent is so thick (supposed to be Scottish) and they spoke in Classical English. I suppose the dialogue is straight from Shakespeare's play and they were supposed to be acting on stage and the audience are all those who liked or are taking Macbeth as their exam paper. But its not, as I am just a movie fan who wanted to enjoy watching a film and learn about Macbeth's character the easy way. But i dont have the privilege to do that it seem. Thanks for the blue ray's subtitles, yet it still got me lost most of the time.

Thanks to the short sypnosis from "Uncle Eddie" on Macbeth in "Criminal Activities". He explained it short and simple why Macbeth was bold and fearless cause he cannot die if to be killed by a man from a woman's womb. Yup stumbled upon the lines that mentioned about Woman's womb. But if without that useful spoiler I could have taken Macbeth as bold, stupid and fearless King who finally got killed by McDuff played by Solomon Kane of MI6.

The acting by Fassbender, Coulthard and Harris were all good. But who want to care less when you have some much problem in watching a movie.

It is unnecessary to do this movie to the way it did. You dont have to use Shakespears' English if it is not for exam students. You see, there are plenty of movies which use simple and maybe American English and it attract a lot of people to see and appreciate the movie. A close example was Braveheart. Many of Ridley Scotts film are also in this category example Robin Hood and Kingdom of Heaven. Alas, some films are even talked in English where else you know they should be speaking in other language. But its ok for audience.

The scenes of the Scotland's mountain is breath taking thou. Not much action thou I was hoping it to be more to comprimise the other things.

See this if you are taking "Macbeth" as your exam paper.

Just saw the movie and what a mess it was !

Quite hopeful when It started off. Nice scenery aerial view of a snowy landscape. Then when the fight with the witch started and with music in the background, it started to give me the headache. Its those fighting scenes which have too much editing and taken from too many angles when it ended you asked what happened ? Who killed who ?

Then Michael Caine appeared with the hope that he can save the movie. But it did not. The background music keep on playing and playing like it never going to stop. If done good and adequately it would have blend well and work for the movie. I guess here is where a musical director works is important. If you give the task only to the composer this would happened. He'll keep on putting his scores in. Good movies dont need to have background music all the time. It should know where to stop and where to start.

One thing is that you need to be a die hard witchcraft fan to understand what they are saying technically. Like me, I got lost with the too many times of going to the past but in a trance thing. But one concept stolen from Inception, when you die in the dream you die in real life. That i hope i got it right.

So in the end after the job is finished, do Coldon (VD's character) got any more job to do ? Or was it the end of hunting witches ? That I am not really sure - a result of poor story telling ? After watching this I still am not sure how do you really kill a witch and which witches are the good ones and should you let them live ?

Well thats my review. Some may agree and some may not.

THE BUTLER - Reviewed

      This is quite an old movie, 2013, but just seen it. Glad I did ! Based on a true story of a butler who served 8 US presidents. Headed by Forest Whitaker, he gave an impressive performance. I am sure after watching this movie, one would understand what a Butler does especially White House's butlers.

There are many notable actors in this movie. Of the 8 presidents the one I think didnt cut it in terms of appearance is Nixon's John Cussack. I read that Pres Obama nearly appear as himself in this movie if not for his busy schedule. Even Obama's character did not made it through even with an actor. Oprah Winfrey played a major role as the butler's wife. She is a good actor when you see how fragile she became in her old age. Would you believe that Mariah Carey is this one too with no dialogue just a rape cry at the beginning of the movie. Worth mentioning is David Oyowelo as Butler's son. He acted his character from childhood till an old man. He did this convincingly with this boyish face. BTW he acted as M Luther K in Selma in a movie.

This is good film making. More than 2 hours and a drama with no action, one enjoyed the story telling in this movie. Never feel bore at all.

MAGGIE - Reviewed

      This movie was released early of 2015 stars Arnold Schwarzenegger. Came to know that he did this movie for free. WTF ? It says that because he fell in love with the script. To win oscar ? People are drawn to see this movie (like him) because of him. So why do it for free ? After seeing, no part in this movie require Mr AS to act heavily. He had proved himself to be good in comedic role. I believe he can do well too in dramatic role. But not in this one. And definitely not to do it for free. 
The wife played by Joely Richardson is a double ringer to Judy Greer. JR is a British well known for serious English drama. So she could have done this with her eyes closed. Not literally of course.

I considered this movie OK. Its not horror for it seem like one and quite close to Zombie movie. No doubt this is one of those movie which try to explain Zombie 101. Nice in some aspects like - eyes become whitish, bones brittle, appetite for flesh, smell flesh like food being cooked, veins bulging etc. Symptoms of Zombie.

I cant understand why Vogel (AS Character) is allowed to take her daughter Maggie home. Although his own daughter, didnt he think that it will exposed to the other members of the family ? Plus there is no cure yet and situation will get worser until they cant speak but like to eat people. 

Her step mother (playe by JR) is also very accommodating. Like any disease, especially when it is unknown, making contacts should be a no no. Also the doctor. sheriff all allowed Maggie to be at her home.

So that is my problem with the movie. The acting is all right. How the story is told and captured on film is also good but I dont buy the concept and that spoils the movie as a whole.

CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES

Chose and saw this movie because John Travolta in it. Is he any good doing this film as like a few others he had been in. Bad movies or simply bad acting ? Well this is for a surprise. JT is not over the top and this movie is not a letdown !

I know the director (the bald short side kick of Eddie) when he was playing side kicks in TV movies. He did some movie too notable one was Watchmen. Other than that dont know how his directorial debut is. Well thats the chance with time I have to take.

The film also has TV actors too 

Now lets talk about the film.. no spoilers
This is what I considered a smart film. It has twist and turns when you thought you are seeing something that's been shown over and over again. The turns was whose who actually are in the film and what the plot really was. Who got hit and whos the hitter. The turns when you are revealed who are the real character and not what you are seeing 4/5 into the movie.  In the the end its all about getting even big time for the lost dignity when you were in school.

Good movie worth watching. JT is not bad also. No eccentric stuff and over the top acting when it starts to irritate you. He looks he is been cured from botox or steroid intake.

ROCK THE KASBAH

This film is partly based on a true story. Which part ? Well that at one point of time a female contestant entered the Afghan Star, a show equivalent to American Idol in US or any other parts of the world.

Saw this movie hoping that it would be a classic rock comedy movie like "Alamost famous" or even "Rock of the Ages" and a few more. It was almost there but not there as you will be entertained with many evergreen rock music (some are new of course) in the background.

The film is headed by known veteran Bill Murray as the music agent, Bruce Willis as the mecenary, Kate Hudson as the prostitute and Zoey Deschaneel as the AWOL rock star. Furthermore directed by Barry Levinson who had directed many movies with some good notable movies before like Disclosure, Donnie Drasco and a few more.

The Verdict...
You like this one if you are a fan of Bill Murray as he played the main character with Willis and Hudson simply as passe. Its quite slow and the camera work is simple and nothing of the new kind of movie making. It has its moments just by BM talking and making jokes.

The singing is definitely adlib and nothing to shout about but it is if it came from a reality show. But I dont think the outcome could be what is filmed in this movie.

Anyway watching this, you'll be taken to see how the rural people in Afghan lives and how suppress they are.

IMDB current ratings is at 8.6 ! Just opened in the US. But the hispanic girl acting in this one was one of the Knock Knock Girls !
At last seeing him acting clean shave. The last time I remember was in Street Justice. Download before its gone gone. Just got from an early bird source.

So I saw this movie and got to give reviews. Sad to say it would not be a good one. But lets start with some good things to say.

2 actresses were notable. Mira Sorovino being a veteran as usual got adequate scripts to play and she did it well. Ana, the main star of the film who was one of the bitchy girls in Knock Knock was also notable. Her conversation was half of it in spanish. But thats ok as subtitles are available. Why she is good is that she projected the exact opposite of the bitchy slut girl in knock knock. And she did it well that make audience have pity on her big time.

Like mentioned above, Keanu is clean shaved in this movie and he still looks young for his age. But commented on the hair - having  bad hair day KR.

Now the bad things to say.
The film is boring and slow.If not for the scene in the subway where it became mysterious like a supernatural thing, I stayed on, thinking that this could be a supernatural cop movie. Then seeing that nothing was happening I began to think could Isabel (Ana character) is a loony ? Having brain tumor so start to seeing things ? Being so naive she started thinking that it was a miracle from god and she is the chosen one.

But in the end what you question had happened in the early minutes of the film is answered, thank god !

When looking at ratings in imdb it was 8.6 with 10 reviews then later on 7.5 at 83 reviews. Yet this film is not yet opened in US. Maybe the votes came from people who saw the downloaded version like me ?? He he he. But why the ratings so high ? Perhaps those that saw it are people who are fan of KR ? I predict as it open in the cinemas the critics and the ratings will hit this film hard.

BTW, KR always got characters who are sad and with less dialogues to deliver. This one he is even sadder and even quieter still.

Bottomline is, this film is bad to the point that i want my money back (oops no ticket here) or give me back 1hr 47mins of my time watching this !!

This story took place the time when " The Big Short" was over. When thousands of people had to be evicted from their homes. This story were about the Realtors who made money from the dilemma.The venue is somewhere in Florida, I think.

Spidey2 (Andrew Garfield) teamed up with Gen Zod (Michael Shanon). I remembered that MS was nominated for best supporting actor for this. To me he should be the main and AG play supporting. Perhaps AG had more air time but in conversation, MS had more to me and also the fact that he played a pivotal role. Laura Dern was wrongly casted. Looks too young to be AG's mother.

The background music was different for this kind of movie. But it works for me. Both acted well but kudos to MS definitely. I am doubtful that facebook was that big then when something happen can go viral over the internet.

When something like this happened, the emotion reacting when they got a bigger house (with swimming pool) than thier small house,might not be right. How the mother and even the son wanted the old house more than the one Nash got, I wonder. To me, it will be 100% relief considering that you moved from a motel you have been staying for months !

From the film, at least you know how it could be when one is evicted (at least in America). As cruel it can be law is law. No point in trying to fight or delay it as when time runs out you have policemen with guns knocking at your door.
