This is a foreign language movie which was translated, I think or just bad voice over ? Possibly from Khazashtan its a futuristic movie set in the future (maybe) with known names like Armande Asante (Judge Dred) and Kristen Loken (Terminator).They are definitely crowd pullers. KL looks like Sharon Stone when she was younger and sexy. Other cast are film locals lead by pretty boy so called martial art expert by the name of Timur (in the movie).
At least the movie made an effort to look hi tech and highly budgeted. Some of the action and fighting scenes are good. Explosion not so good but not so bad either better than low budgets sci fi films I see.
Aside from the acting which are basically woody (except for the "stars" of course) the background music is overdone which I didnt like. Movies that do this tend to hide the scenes with music because the acting is not good or the set is under par etc. Good movies have silence which spoke a thousand words.
Then the make up is another thing. They all look well done even after fights and runs. Some makeups of the females looks the same with same hairstyle that sometimes it confuse audiences (or is it only me). Many pretty boys and girls in this movie thou.
Be prepared to see some ridiculous actions like a car going from a cliff but exactly landed on the rails. Or a motorbike going through the roof of a bus and remain unscathed. But its thrilling thou maybe not logic. The hero and villain know Parkour too ! And whats these hot army chicks on the plane with hot pants. Dont forget Point Break 1 cliche saving one from a plane who is without parachute and when its landed on rooftop of a sky scrapper the crooks happened to be there. Talking about coincidence !
The timeline and logistic is also questionable when the location is discovered just in seconds they are there.
The flow of story telling is not good either, between the flashbacks and the current happenings, I tend to got lost. Also from scenes to scenes, its kindda of not smooth or right. Theres one scene where the bad guy look very soft when confronting his boss (I think) but when he's running and fighting our pretty boy hero, he was so tough. Also some reaction from the characters interaction dont quite make sense like when you stab someone in the calf your reaction would be to punch the guy (or gal) in the nose unless the hand was tight up or he was paralyzed. Anyway he could feel the pain when the knife was stabbed, isnt it.
This is a movie you expect when you sit inset aside the illogical parts but you are still thrill which is a good thing

This movie was much underrated by Youtube movie reviewers Stuckman and Jahns. One of them was even saying that nothing happened in this movie which now i understand is an understatement. I remember due to their reviews i kept this movie under wrap and did not see it in the big screen. Not that I dont regret for not seeing it big screen, but feeling that I had been mislead and would not mind if seeing it in the big screen.
I dont know whats the classic tale of Frankenstein is, but i bet this one is near to the original unlike Eckhart's version or rather the American version of it.
Not to spoil, you dont see much of the big guy but anyway the story is not about him rather than his creator Victor and his assistant Igor. Both played well by Mcvoy and Raddcliffe. Also the bad guy of James Bond Spectre is the good guy here (not the main one the other one)
When watching a film you can feel if its been badly done like being overdone or underdone. One good example of a overdone film (I did give this review) was The Last Witch hunter. Those underdone you can feel that its underbudget with bad special effects. Bad movie mostly are when the actors dont act naturally and you can feel the inadequate acting. But this one both main actors did their parts with flying colors. McVoy (young Dr Xavier in Xmen) as usual bring such realism to his character. Radcliffe (Harry Potter) not so much but sufficiently enough.
Well rounded good film which make me question what do others see in a movie that I didnt see. Also I wont be blatantly believe in reviews from now on. Maybe there is a conspiracy that if its not American film then they are not up to par films. And a few times that were wrong opinions.
See this with all its splendor.

SUM OF HISTORIES

This movie is another take on time travel. So they say in the reviews I came across. I beg to differ. This is not about time traveling rather the ability that you can alert someone in your past... by email.
The concept may be funny but then when you think about people actually can travel to the past is funnier still. But scientifically the possibility occurring in this movie might be much more possible than the usual "time traveling" we saw in movies.
But a few things straight. The movie is not in English as it is a Belgian production. As expected non of the actors I know of. However, the copy has subtitles. However, the subtitles have many consistent typo errors. But you can make them out. My only complaint due to the need to glance at the subtitles, the concentration on the acting kind of lessen. Then this is not a high budget movie. But the technology that we could have 25 years from now was only shown in a bicycle that Victor rides and the LED board when he gave lectures. But the film is clever enough not to show the whole thing there is to show 25 years from now.
To me this story is very good with thick plot which you must understand and not loose your concentration. If you do then you may not understand the head and tail of the movie especially as it is not in English. This movie prove that you dont need high budget to make a good film. This film has the mysteries and the surprises all right.
Also prove that when it comes to some edge like this, one tend to think of making some money. This film didnt touched on Trading or Forex but on abstract art.
One of my complain is on the make up. The part when the Victor saw Tom at the present time (25 years on). Tom looks young and Victor older even with the make up. The production could find an older actor to play Tom rather than try to make up Tom to be older which did not quite pull off.
Good movie at only 1hr 20mins. Sufficient to have your brain cells working thinking what this film is all about.

SHOOTING AT SOCRATES

Found and watched this movie hoping to be inspired like the sports true story movie I watched before this; "My All American". Its an Irish(?) production and on tight budget. And "old" one too from 2014.
The actors are unknown to me except for the main character as the coach. He appeared in many British movies.
This film is about the Northern Ireland team which made it to World Cup 86 Finals. Only the 2nd time in its history and at that time it was the smallest country playing in the World Cup. Worst, the country was at a civil war between the North and South something to do with religious beliefs.
Socrates is the name of the Brazilan Captain who himself was a poet and a politician. After watching this movie found out in the closing credits that he had died in 2011 at the young age of 57. Thou he was a doctor (medical practioner) and a sportsman, he smoked right before entering the football field for a match to the shock of the Irish players.He died due to health complicated reasons.
The movie used actual live footage of the world cup only from the distant shots. So you know that Ireland is playing but they are not the team you saw in the movie (played by the actors). Socrates played by some Brazilian actor who was tall (like him), well built (he was skinny) and handsome guy(he was not so much). Not much scenes for his part but just to carry the movie, I guessed.
Theres nothing much to shout about for the movie nor do the achievement of the Northen Ireland football team in the world cup that year. It did not qualify to the next round as it drew 1-1 with Algeria and lost 2-1 with Spain. Their final game (which i hoped to be a historic one which did not) lost to Brazil (you cant change history).
But the morale of the story of how they can advanced into the world cup even if their country is in a turmoil. How the team managed to unite the country North and South to forget about their conflicts and war and be proud for the country in a world game. That to me I forever hope to be for this country. Got all the things in the world but still having a shitty football team.
There is one local film about Malaysia in football currently showing in the cinema "Ole Bola" its more or less about the yesterday team that qualify to the Olympics in Moscow. Looks pretty good and hopefully can find its source and review it here in the near future.
An OK movie this one. See this if you are a fan of the game.
