RIDE ALONG 2

REVIEWED
I cant really remember what went on in Ride Along. But I am sure its about the continuous disagreement of the two, James and Ben. They are going to be related as Brother in Laws but one is trying to put down the other one as being not cop material as he was merely a security guard. But after how the other one, Ben (Kevin Hart) proved that he was after all cop potential in RA, he became a probationary cop in this sequel. Now in RA2, both are still having the same issue and nothing seem to progress from the last movie. However, Ben is about to marry James's (ice cube) sister and they really will become Brother in Laws after all.

This movie has its moments no doubt. With familiar faces like Ken Jeong (of Dr Ken), Olivia Munn (last time in Motedecai) and Benjamin Bratt who is now good in acting as bad guys in movies, what can go much wrong. But I think the climatic part where the crook was finally revealed and caught red handed got too late in the movie, about 10 mins before it ends. So the story line of the good trying to put the bad is too hasty and too easy.

The action scene was nice like the car chases, explosions at the dock, crocodile etc. You know that this is quite a budgeted film by looking at the action scenes.

The film definitely stand up from the works of Kevin Hart's antics. Ice Cube is stiff no one thinks he can carry heavy acting and his character as James in the movie fit him just fine. Olivia Munn played a good part. So did B Bratt. Ken as usual doing his stuff and playing sparring partner with Hart.

To me the film did not live up to its expectation by repeating the same old stuff but this time in another town. Ride Along was 2 years ago and you would expect things to have improved and progressed in this one but kind of a letdown to see that it repeated the same thing all over again. In movie time line, RA2 could have been just a few months after RA.  But the movie goers had to wait 2 years to see what happen.

Like I said in terms of comedy it did not fail when they are at it. Plus the action is also great cause you dont see this type of actions in comedy movies.

If you want to have a good time, RA2 did not fail you. Only that if you think back on RA and wanting this to be at a higher notch, that would not be the case.
