CAPTAIN AMERICA : CIVIL WAR (cinema)

Actually this is the 2nd thumbs baldy I am giving in my reviews. Read thru my belated reviews of the first 2 thumbs baldy review of movies seen seen. You may be surprised on which one was it

Happy Labor Day 1st May. Had the opportunity to see this movie at a nearby local cinema with family
Had a blast of time !!

REVIEW :
Now here is my review of my best Superhero of all time Captain America : Civil War. Surprising that the directors of this film (who also directed CA Winters Soldier) other previous track record was "You, me and Dupree". How far have they gone. I thought it would be hard for them to beat their previous works on CA Winter Soldiers, but they did it ... by a mile. There are the Russo brothers.

This is close or you may call it an Avengers movie as many super heroes are in it including new one like Black Panther or cross over one like Spidey and AntMan. Iron Man played an integral part in this one. Heard that Robert Downey Jr marketed that he need more air time (of course bigger paycheck) to be in this movie and he did.

The figthing scenes are fantastic yet believable. Before watching this, I thought CA reason to fight IM to defend Bucky was pretty lame. But thanks to good story telling and acting, it was not. You can feel the genuineness of Cap and even Iron Man to believe what they believe in. The fighting are lightning fast but when they fought it really feels that they want to stop their opponent.

But when it comes to jokes part, it was actually funny. The new young Peter Parker was really the jokester of the movie thou his part was rather small. Whilst Black Panther was serious all the way and scarry too.

One thing I admire about the direction of this one is that Cap has its cap on even when it comes to the heavy dialogue part unlike when he was in the Avengers, there was always a way to loose his cap to expose his face. But not this one.

This is the way to make superhero movie which appeal to the kids and the adults. And when you got results like this you dont have to rethink your movie ratings in order to be succesful like Deadpool was. You dont see head smashed or blood splurting but still you enjoy this one and so did our kids.

This is a 2 hrs 36 mins movie, the longest in Marvel superheroes movies. But when it end, my wife was telling me that she didnt want it to end. And for me I did not sleep the previous night due to overslept the previous day yet I was wide awake enjoying the movie on Sunday Noon. That was how good it was.

Another thumbs up movie seen and this is based on a true story. Reading the details from IMDB, it was 90% made up ! meaning that the true parts is only 10%. What a shame ! But it really make good entertainment and good movie thou.

The real part of the story is that Eddie Edwards did exist and he was the "star" in 1988 Calgary Winter Olympic Games alongside with another surprise team which was the Bobsleigh from Jamaica also wiith a movie "Cool Runnings" depicting their particpation. Also real was that Eddie strated ski Jumping at a much later age (beyond 22 years old) whereelse others started earlier than 6 years old !

Eddie did made the 90m jump in the Calgary Olympics and that was the first time in his life thou it was a matter of life and death for many athletes. Real also that he finished last in all the event where his personal best in the 90m jump was 71.5 m. Imagine the current record for the event is 251 m !

Now the disappointing part is which was actually the best part of the film was that the character played by Hugh Jackman including his former coach, Chris Walken were fictitious characters ! To me, the movie was very entertaining as HJ was in it. That scene where he was with CW was powerful indeed. And who could forget the part when he showed Eddie how to be better in mid air after the jump with reference to Bo Derek !

Aside from the "dissapointment" part of the film mentioned above, dont forget who Eddie was. His courage and determination were above everything. Very entertaining movie and not forget courageous too.

Saw this movie as it is about music where Amber Heard and Chris Walken is in it among others.

Chris Walken is an old crooner who wanted to revive his career and Amber Heard is his daughter.

CW did his singing here and he is good for the type of Frank Sinatra kindda of music. Amber Heard is ok in her singing too. Both of them acted very well and that element is the thing that made the movie interesting and worth seeing.

Go see this if you want a good father daughter drama story. The music, not so much

TIB CINEMA APR16 -

Undoubtedly, as you can see, there seem to be not much activities in the month unlike other months before this. Less movies seen and less reviews also. Lot of excuses for this but why worry about the past why not look front to the future.
Anyway the movies seen for the month will be reviewed eventually. Just look at the remarks after the movie links below.

This movie has got so many stars in it like Casey Affleck, Gil Gadot, A Mackie, Winslet, Ejiofor, Aaron Paul, W Harelson and some more.

In this film K Winslet plays the badass Russian Lady Boss and Gil Gadot the sister and marreid to? Ejiofor with a child.

Its about the dirtiest of cops who do work for the Russian mafia. They are definitely in their payroll. Doing things to the point of killing people (thats bad!).

The action is good and so does the acting. But to me it failed to reach its potential as it haas many stars resulting in too many characters to develop. Its editing of going from one story to another did not help either. And theres that thing that "anybody can die" element of it. If done sparsely is good but done too many times can spoil the movie. Furthermore, making too many plots make the understanding and enjoyment of the movie a little lesser.

But like I said you wont be dissapointed in the action department and gory too. Watching how some robbers got clumsy after robbing a bank is surprisingly funny to me.. but shit happens.

This movie is both directed and written by Ricky Gervais who I dont know is capable of doing those things except for acting and hosting awards show. But he did it and it was a surprise good film for me. Eric Bana was there too acting as an America. Funny during the movie when he was at Ian's (RG character) house he was commenting on the many Marvel collectibles. He happened to be the first movie hulk who got replaced ! EB plays Frank Bonnevile, a radio anchor man of sort.

I wonder whether there are occupation of these kind at this day and age. Radio achors where they convey news to their station broadcasting to radios. I thought that everything is replaced by movie news. So thats wheere Ian Finch(RG) come along as he is the sound engineer following Frank.

This is a comedy film but it does not feel like forcing you to laugh at it and thats a good aspect of it. You laugh as you go along, The story unfold effortlessly.

So thats the review of the movie for if longer it would have spoilers. Theres a very crucial plot which can happen and which is funny.

See this for its comedic nature and laughing without being forced with slapstick.

I AM WRATH

This movie was chosen to view definitely due to John Travolta in it. Rebecca De Mornay was also in it as his wife. And that girl from TV series suit as his daughter acting believable indeed.

JT obviously had been going thru some kind of Botox or plastic surgery just by looking at his face.

The plot is all too familiar for a movie where in the end you finally knew why what had happened. Corrupted cops where the ordinary citizen had to resort to violence in order to get justice done. Finally crooks discovered that they had ruffled the wrong feathers and this happen to be one who had special set of skills. He got of hold of his colleague and off they go through town with a vengeance.

How the movie was titled and which he had also tattooed the same word on the whole of his back just because of a phrase from the bible that was left open when he threw the bible to the floor. That was pretty convenient. People may think that this is some horror movie or something.

To me JT did not come that strong as the vagilante. He could have donned a mask and become Batman would have been more appealing. But why he decided its time to go is not real to me. Through out the movie he did not potray as that kind of guy unlike Punisher in DD2. If Punisher you know that he is asking for it. But this one did not gave that to me.

See this if you like to see a shoot shoot bang bang movie. JT had acted more convincingly as the bad guy in many other movies he was in like Face Off, Swordfish, the Pelham movie and others.
