99 HOMES
REVIEWED
This story took place the time when " The Big Short" was over. When thousands of people had to be evicted from their homes. This story were about the Realtors who made money from the dilemma. The venue is somewhere in Florida, I think.
Spidey2 (Andrew Garfield) teamed up with Gen Zod (Michael Shanon). I remembered that MS was nominated for best supporting actor for this. To me he should be the main and AG play supporting. Perhaps AG had more air time but in conversation, MS had more to me and also the fact that he played a pivotal role. Laura Dern was wrongly casted. Looks too young to be AG's mother.
The background music was different for this kind of movie. But it works for me. Both acted well but kudos to MS definitely. I am doubtful that facebook was that big then when something happen can go viral over the internet.
When something like this happened, the emotion reacting when they got a bigger house (with swimming pool) than thier small house, might not be right. How the mother and even the son wanted the old house more than the one Nash got, I wonder. To me, it will be 100% relief considering that you moved from a motel you have been staying for months !
From the film, at least you know how it could be when one is evicted (at least in America). As cruel it can be law is law. No point in trying to fight or delay it as when time runs out you have policemen with guns knocking at your door.
Marvel’s Captain America: 75 Heroic Years
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow S01 Special: Their Time Is Now
OUR BRAND IS CRISIS
REVIEWED
This movie stars both Sandra Bullock and ex AJolie Billy Bob Thorton. But I guess it never made the awards radar of 2015. No mention of the film or actors either. Produced by Bullock and Clooney who worked together in Gravity. Andy Mackie and also that Clear and Present Danger's hispanic crook is in this one too.
The plot is nothing new. But this time its Bolivia presidential race where Jane (SB's character) is hired to win an underdog. She took it because the opponent strategies played by BBT's character was her former adversary who had betrayed her.
The acting was effective typical Bullock, Thorton and Mackie. Thou its branded as a comedy, its not the entire film only on some parts. But who cares as "The Martian" was after all called a comedy by Globe Awards. ha ha.
As usual its good to see how a strategiest worked out a candidate which can work if applied in real life on real candidates.
But the movie did not want the audience to leave their seats with that feel good feeling which they could but didnt. Instead the film was left hanging with some bitter feelings to the audience too. Especially when you know that in real life what happened in the film can happen for real.
THE PEANUTS MOVIE
REVIEWED
I was never a fan of Charlie Brown or Snoopy. I know them from the cartoons in papers which they appear. The short strip ones. But seeing this one was a surprise and no wonder it has very good ratings on imdb.
The movie is cute with a cute story. What do you expect from a cartoon especially when its Charlie Brown. But I was impressed on how they draw the character and made it fit for the big screen. There are already version of Charlie Brown on the small tube but on the big screen ? That could be a challenge. What the animators did was to draw full 3D stuffs of the body but the face remain a sketch. At first, I thought this to be awkward but then it did not. In fact that brought the cuteness in the movie and the characters of course.
Its a feat as Charlie Brown and his friends are ordinary kids and to have a feature film that long could be a bore particularly to the kids. The main theme is that CB had a crushed on a girl who moved in to his school. It happened that the girl lived right in front of his house. But his shyness got the best of him and through out this movie it show how much struggle he envisage just as to be brave to talk to her.
Actions scenes were provided in Snoopy's dream where he battle the Red Barron in air to win his girl friend. So funny that he flew on his dog house to chase red baron. Worth mentioning Snoopy's yellow bird friend and the friend's friends too.
Its a good cartoon movie with that feel good feeling. Recommended even for parents particularly those who grew up reading Charlie Brown comics.
PLASTIC
REVIEWED
From the credits, this movie was based on a true story. That makes it more flexible in terms of direction. And so it did.
The movie had it share of surprises on how the events turned out to be.
The diamond con is very good. You need to spent money to get more money to the extent of chartering plane, cars crews and hotel. Dont forget to be a good actor and with good make up on to pass being the confidant of the Brunei Prince.
Stories like this can teach people how to con other people right to the point of ransom and extortion which you'll learned can bring disastrous result. And when it comes to money, can you trust your friends who might con you the con to get all the money and left you gaping ? But then can you trust your friend with 2 years of your life that he will keep low profile until you met up with him to spend your hard work.
The shooting scenes like most British film is awesome. British film is good in combining comedy with bloddy shootings just like "Moonwalkers".
Thou this movie is old (2014) its still worth your time for some fun and good conning. This is no goody goody movie because people will die.

BOYCHOIR
PreREVIEW
A film from 2014 with Hoffman and Bates. Any good ? Review soon.
REVIEWED
So this is a fiction movie. But it could be true too maybe not all the points in the film.. and there's a few of them when treated seperately.
Dustin Hoffman got the part which he deserve and utilized it to the best of the actor he is. Debra Winger, Kathy Bates and even Josh Lucas did not. But that is ok as it focused on Stet the cutey choir boy. Not much can be said about Stet played by new young actor Garret. But he did a lot of choir singing ad lip as it could be miming for someone else. The closing credit song by J Groban is nice thou. Maybe his character did not require much script from him. But when he is singing he looks real enough. Oh yes, Kevin Mchale who was the wheelchair kid in Glee is in the film too. In fact if not because of him (in this film) Stet might never got the chance.
The plot is predictable and like many other movies of its kind. But that should not keep one away from watching this where in the end it is sweet ending for everyone.
Musically the part where who between Stet (the instinctive one) and Devon (Analytical one) for the solo part was great. In the end Carvelle (DH) made the right choice.
If all of Stet's family came to fetch him at the end of the film, it would have been more memorable but cheesy of course. I guess that part belongs to Stet's step mom who I think pretty much like Creed's step mom - the husband's son thou out of wedlock and through an affair is also hers to love and take care of. "Step" may not be the right definition here.

THE PROGRAM
PreREVIEW
Another true story film. Its not about computers but on Lance Armstrong the fallen France Le Tour bicyclist. Its about cancer and how he defeated it.
REVIEWED
Completed watching this movie which have its moral to ponder.
The gist is, its about Lance Armstrong one of the best bicyclist in the world who struggle to win the Tour De France. Then diagnosed with Cancer. Fight it to recovery. Then make a comeback and won the Tour more times than anybody ever did or ever will at 7 times ! People suspected that he and his teamates uses drugs. But he and his lawyer managed to sue them back and won. Then retire. His biggest mistake was to come back from retirement and only managed 3rd place. Then he was accused again for drug abuse and this time no escpae. So all his winnings were stripped and he become a disgraced. So thats how sad and stupid one can be. If he could have remained retired he could become a legend !
Thru the film it showed how dangerous the sports of cross country cycling can be especially when you are cycling down a hill.
Dustin Hoffman made his experience a bit short which shoes can be filled by anybody. Hope the film "BoyChoir" which he is in does not disappoint.
But whatever the outcome for LA finally, how he combat and overcome Cancer is remarkable. Even if he had cheated. His comeback was exemplary and inspiration to many people. I also wonder was the drug got him cancer in the first place ?
